Matt LichtenbergAccording to Matt Lichtenberg, the Los Angeles Philharmonic is not just about performance. It is also about education. Indeed, there are numerous educational programs open to members of the community—kids and grown-ups alike. These programs are all about sharing and spreading the enriching influence of beautiful music.

Lichtenberg himself is a passionate advocate of the LA Philharmonic. Of course, a big part of that is simply that he loves the music. However, he is also a vocal supporter of the many educational initiatives. Read on to learn about just a few of them.

Upbeat Live

Are you new to classical music? If so, then this program—free to all ticket holders—is for you. It is basically a guided tour of the music you are about to hear. Celebrated musicians will take you behind the scenes, explaining music theory and offering guided listens that are not only engaging and entertaining in their own right, but will also help you have a more enriching concert experience.

Upbeat Live is also a great way to receive a behind-the-scenes peak at the Phil itself. You may even get to hear live interviews and Q&A’s with musicians or guest performers. All things told, it is part of the orchestra experience that you will want to take advantage of!

Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA)

Here is another program that Matt Lichtenberg is enthusiastic about. This is actually a pet project of the orchestra’s conductor, but it has ramifications for the entire community. This program is all about spreading the enriching power of music to kids—particularly needy kids—in LA. It includes free instruments, intensive training and more.

By the way, this is not the only cause that conductor Gustavo Dudamel holds dear. He is also an advocate of the Take a Stand campaign. This initiative is all about harnessing the power of music to bring about social change, and to break cycles of poverty and brokenness for kids and families across the city.

Matt Lichtenberg: Agent of Change

Matt Lichtenberg is proud to serve as a donor and spokesman for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and for the diverse and empowering programs that it offers. It is worth noting that these are not the only programs Matt Lichtenberg supports. He is also an advocate on behalf of cancer research, for example. Matt Lichtenberg is a living example of the kinds of change that are ushered in through the transformative power of music.
